Our Journey
Our journey began through a partnership with GrameenKoota, now Credit Access Grameen Limited. Navya Disha’s flagship program has been dedicated to water, hygiene, and sanitation (WASH). Working closely with impoverished households, we have facilitated the construction of toilets in individual homes. Our initiative extends to encouraging every family in the village to have its own water connection, alleviating the need to trek for miles for potable water. Navya Disha has conducted extensive awareness programs emphasizing the significance of rainwater harvesting systems and promoting safe waste disposal through options like biogas plants, composting, and solid waste management.
Through the Sugrama program, we have successfully transformed villages into models that are free from open defecation, ensuring that every household has access to potable water. By 2019, our program had come to a close, aligning with the national focus on water hygiene and sanitation.Building on the program’s success, Navya Disha continues to advocate and contribute to national efforts, emphasizing the sustained importance of water, hygiene, and sanitation practices in communities. Our commitment to creating lasting impacts persists, transcending the timeline of individual programs.
Our efforts in children’s education have primarily centered around imparting life skills alongside the traditional curriculum. Sushikshana offers a holistic learning experience that equips children with the skills and confidence needed to transition into adulthood responsibly. Our focus is on nurturing well-rounded individuals who can contribute positively to society. The Menstrual Hygiene Management program, originally designed to build self-esteem and empower girls and women, is now seamlessly integrated with Sushikshana.
The Self-Shakti program, delivering leadership and financial literacy initiatives through a mobile bus, reached rural women at their doorstep. This impactful initiative has been transitioned to operate as an independent organization, Buzz India, ensuring sustained focus and effectiveness.
As we continue to chart new directions, embodying the essence of our name, Navya Disha, our commitment remains focused on fostering sustainable practices that enhance the overall well-being of communities.
