Sugrama – 100% ODF and WASH Compliant Villages

The Sugrama project’s objective to achieve 100% sanitation coverage and establish model villages free from open defecation, with access to clean water in every household, was a significant stride toward improving rural living conditions. Encouraging rural communities to embrace rainwater harvesting and watershed techniques not only enhanced access to water but also aided in improving groundwater levels, contributing to sustainable water management. Additionally, promoting eco-friendly solid waste management practices and waste disposal systems signified a commitment to environmental sustainability and cleanliness within these communities.

Implementing the Sugrama project in underdeveloped gram panchayats like Urdigere grama panchayat in Tumkur district and New Vantamuri grama panchayat in Belagavi district highlighted the targeted efforts toward uplifting and transforming specific rural areas, fostering healthier and more sustainable living environments for the residents.
