Combating COVID-19

Navya Disha’s collaboration with Grameenkooota to create COVID-19 awareness materials in four different languages and disseminate them through various channels demonstrates a proactive response to the pandemic. The field staff’s efforts in distributing these messages across markets, villages, households, and temple premises effectively reached thousands of individuals within their project areas.

During the initial phase of the COVID-19 lockdown, these awareness messages played a crucial role in educating people about the do’s and dont’s related to the pandemic. By imparting essential information daily, Navya Disha and Grameenkoota aimed to emphasize the gravity of the situation and enabled people to understand the necessary precautions and safety measures required to combat the pandemic effectively. This initiative played a vital role in raising awareness and promoting responsible behaviour during a challenging period.

The pandemic led to a loss of livelihoods for many vulnerable groups such as artisans, rickshaw drivers, rag pickers, teachers from affordable private schools, and others. In response, Navya Disha raised funds to provide essential support, including food, kits, and subsistence allowances, offering critical assistance to those facing financial hardships. By extending this aid, Navya Disha helped alleviate the immediate challenges faced by these individuals and families during a period of economic uncertainty, ensuring they had access to essential necessities and some financial stability during a difficult time. This support undoubtedly made a significant difference in the lives of those affected by the pandemic’s economic repercussions.
