Self-Shakti – Leadership for Rural Women
The Self-Shakti program demonstrated an innovative approach to empowering rural women by delivering leadership and financial literacy programs directly to their doorsteps using a traveling bus. This decentralized model ensured convenient access to education and skill development opportunities for women residing in rural areas.
Equipped as a mobile classroom, the bus served as a platform for trainers to impart essential skills such as money management, wealth creation, leadership training, and entrepreneurial skills. By bringing education and training to the neighborhoods of rural women, this initiative addressed barriers of accessibility, making learning more inclusive and accessible.
Empowering women with the knowledge and skills for self-employment and entrepreneurship through such localized efforts not only enhanced their financial literacy but also cultivated leadership qualities, fostering independence and economic empowerment within rural communities.
The reach of the Self-Shakti program across Tumkur, Chitradurga, Kolar, and Bangalore rural districts in Karnataka signified its widespread impact in empowering women within these regions. By providing educational modules and training sessions in close proximity to their homes, the program not only imparted valuable skills but also sowed the seeds of self-esteem and self-respect among women. The initiative’s emphasis on delivering empowerment programs directly to the women’s localities demonstrated a commitment to accessibility and inclusivity. By fostering a sense of self-worth and dignity through education and skill-building, the program uplifted women, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations with confidence and pride.
