Water Sanitation and Hygiene

Navya Disha’s work in supporting poor households in constructing toilets in individual homes not only promoted hygiene but also ensured dignity and sanitation for families. Encouraging access to water connections within villages significantly reduced the burden on families, eliminating the need for long treks in search of potable water.

Our extensive awareness programs on rainwater harvesting systems underscore the importance of water conservation, especially in areas prone to water scarcity. Additionally, advocating for safe waste disposal through biogas plants, composting, and solid waste management programs demonstrated a commitment to environmental sustainability while addressing community needs. These initiatives not only enhanced living conditions but also contributed to fostering a cleaner and healthier environment for these communities.

Our WASH  program was implemented across multiple districts in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh, particularly in the operational areas of Grameenkoota in association with Water.org. The program’s primary objectives of enhancing access to improved sanitation facilities and ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water address critical needs within these communities. Moreover, providing skills training to local masons in constructing low-cost and affordable sanitation models was a proactive step toward sustainability and community involvement. This approach not only improved access to sanitation but also contributed to local capacity building, enabling the community to maintain and expand these facilities in the long run.
