Yuva Udyami-Entrepreneurship Development Program

Navya Disha’s Entrepreneurship Development Program is an initiative to nurture self-employment and entrepreneurship among youth in peri-urban and rural areas. We believe that entrepreneurship as a career is critical to meet the growing demand for jobs and that fostering micro-enterprises and mass-entrepreneurship is key to addressing India’s employment challenge. Through this program, we hope to build an ecosystem where young people are empowered and supported to create their own pathways for work. We aim to address young people and promote entrepreneurship as a sustainable livelihood option.

Capital for the enterprises will be modelled on the Nobin Equity Program launched by Prof. Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh in 2013. This equity also entitles the investor to receive a share of the profit made by the enterprise.

The program is currently undergoing a pilot phase in the Tumkur district of Karnataka, targeting a diverse group of participants, including community youth, women from self-help groups, and college students. This inclusive approach aims to empower individuals from various backgrounds with entrepreneurial skills and opportunities.

To date, we have successfully trained over 1700 participants in entrepreneurship awareness within communities and educational institutions in Tumkur. Following counseling and screening processes, the first cohort of aspiring entrepreneurs have undergone entrepreneurship development training. These entrepreneurs are being supported to launch their enterprises.

A comprehensive study is in progress, examining the entrepreneurial landscape of Tumkur, with a primary focus on identifying the latent potential for establishing micro and small enterprises in the region. This collaborative effort seeks to compile a detailed compendium outlining various entrepreneurship support schemes and initiatives available in Karnataka. The goal is to facilitate informed decision-making and create an environment conducive to entrepreneurial growth.

In our commitment to promoting entrepreneurship and fostering hyper-local ecosystems, we have established strategic partnerships and collaborations with various institutions and agencies. Through these alliances, we aim to leverage combined expertise, resources, and networks to offer comprehensive support, guidance, and opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. Our partnerships span educational institutions, industry mentors, entrepreneurs, incubators, skill training institutions, financial institutions, and more.

Additionally, we are preparing to launch another program in Bangalore, further expanding our efforts to promote entrepreneurship and contribute to the development of thriving local entrepreneurial ecosystems.
